FormFutura CarbonFil filament is based upon the unique PETG blend of our HDglass compound and is reinforced with 15% ultra-light and relatively long stringer carbon fibers, which has resulted in an exceptionally stiff carbon-fiber reinforced 3D printer filament. CarbonFil is twice as stiff as HDglass and yet it is even 10% more impact resistant, which is a remarkable feature for carbon-fiber reinforced filament.

Unique features

  • Reinforced with 15% ultra-lightweight and relatively long carbon fiber stringers
  • Extremely stiff – twice as stiff as HDglass (or even more compared to other PETG-based filaments)
  • Great impact resistance – 10% more impact resistant than HDglass (or even more compared to other PETG-based filaments)
  • Very easy to print – nearly warp-free, improved thermal stability, nearly perfect first layer and inter-layer adhesion
  • Good first layer adhesion to a heated glass print bed and many other surfaces
  • Heat deflection temperature of ± 85° C
  • Great dimensional stability

Printing Guidelines

  • Print temp: ± 230 – 265° C
  • Heat bed: ± 0 – 85° C
  • Layer height: ≥ 0.2mm
  • Print speed: Low
  • Fan speed: 20-50%
  • Flow rate: ± 100%
  • Experience level: Beginner
  • Adhesion: EasyFix Nr 1
  • Nozzle size: => 0.4mm

Abrasiveness

Please be aware that CarbonFil filaments contain a relatively high concentration of extremely hard carbon fibers, which have an abrasive nature. In general these carbon fibers will accelerate the nozzle-wear of brass nozzles, much faster than unfilled filaments. We recommend to use nozzles from stainless steel or other hardened alloys.

Dimensions

  • 1.75mm
  • 0.5 KG Spool
  • Length 175 metres

my new favorite material!

Ender 5+, typically mechanical part prototypes.
Love this stuff, great surface finish and easy to print.
i run an enclosure, 85 on the bed and 250 on the nozzle.
yes thats hot but it works.
i did get a little shrinkage on holes ( eg a 28.00mm hole ended up at 27.87mm) but that can be compensated for.
hardened nozzle a must

Strong nice finish

Great material that doesn't require a printer with giant bells and whistles to achieve a great finish. Definitely requires a hardened nozzle or better as the abrasive nature will eat up brass.

Prints well

Prints well even without a heated build plate. This filament produces nice strong parts with a unique surface finish, but it is abrasive - it will destroy brass nozzles fairly quickly. Make sure you use a nozzle made of a harder material for best results!
