Dimafix Tips & Tricks

There’s a fine balance between getting the right bed adhesion for successful 3D prints. It’s either the bed is too sticky that you can’t get the 3D print off once it’s done or not sticky enough that your 3D print fails. The secret to getting the right bed adhesion is Dimafix

Dimafix is a 3D printing adhesive that provides just the right amount of adhesion for hard-to-print filaments such as polycarbonate and ABS. For those who are still having problems with warping and bed adhesion, here are reasons why you should use Dimafix.

1. Use Dimafix with hard-to-print-with filaments

Some filaments are harder to print with more than others.. Filaments such as ABS, ASA, Polycarbonate, and more require high temperatures in order to print successfully. If the bed’s temperature isn’t kept high consistently, it would cause warping and first layer problems. Hence, a bed adhesive like Dimafix is required to keep your print to stick on the bed during the duration of the printing.

2. Dimafix provides just the right amount of adhesion

Other forms of bed adhesive provide too much adhesion to the point that it would be impossible to remove the print without scraping it off and ruining it. It would also be hard to estimate how much adhesion you would need since as we all know, different prints and filaments demand different levels of adhesion. You won’t experience that with Dimafix. Dimafix loses its adhesion when the bed is cooled down above 60ºC and only provides the adhesion that your print needs while it is printing. How does it do that? Simple, the adhesion strength increases as the temperature rises. See the chart below:

3. Large and sprawling prints will be secured on the bed with Dimafix

Typically, large prints tend to have inconsistent adhesion due to the temperature changes throughout the print. Dimafix is even more effective with large prints as it becomes stickier when the temperature rises. No need to worry about getting it stuck on the bed as once it cools down, the print will be easy to remove.

4. Dimafix is easy to wash off from the bed

When you use glue or other adhesives on the bed, you would need a scraper to get it off the bed after printing. However, since Dimafix loses its adhesion when it cools, you won’t need a scraper anymore. Any residue can be removed by a water-soaked cloth.

5. Dimafix will last you a long time

Adhesion shouldn’t cost you a lot. A $30 bottle of Dimafix lasts up to 100 uses. You never have to worry about running out.

6. Dimafix is easy to use

There is no secret recipe to using Dimafix. It is pretty much self-explanatory: you remove the cap, swipe it on the bed, and start printing!
