Description

X3D Recycle PLA is a sustainable initiative to efficiently manage residual extrusion waste streams and re-use them into high-end filaments. The ideology behind Recycled is to a make 3D printing more sustainable – without having to make compromises on material properties – and yet keep it affordable.

Recycle PLA is made out of residual extrusion waste streams which are re-compounded and homogenized into a high-end and easy to print upcycled PLA filament with significant less environmental impact.

Unique Features

  • 100% upcycled/recycled filament. Less environmental impact by quality controlling and re-using extrusion waste streams. Only residual waste streams of PLA is being re-used, thus pure quality!
  • Very easy to print
  • Warp-free printing and no deformation after cooling
  • Improved flowing behaviour and inter-layer adhesion
  • Good first layer adhesion to several (un)heated print surfaces

Specifications

  • 1.75mm Diameter
  • 750 gms net weight (280 meters per roll)
  • Print Temp 200 – 230 Degrees
  • Bed Temp – 0 – 60 Degrees
  • Fan Speed – 50 – 100%
  • Flow Rate – 100%

Dud roll?

Given there are other positive reviews I have to assume I got a bad roll somehow. I can comfortably say the roll I have is the worst roll of filament I have had in a little over 3 years of printing.

I tried it on two of my printers (Creality CR-6 SE and Bambu X1C), both had terrible results with extreme difficulty for first layer adhesion, extreme warping and generally bad results. When I first experienced problems I gave the roll the benefit of the doubt and then re-tried with the filament in my heated drier box... no change in results (not wet).

The X1C has been pumping out engineering parts out of ABS with incredible accuracy and no warping at all, but with this PLA I had warping at all four corners to the point where the print nearly failed entirely. As for other PLAs, a print only a few prints earlier was a PLA mini that looked comparable with a resin printer (@ 0.08 layer height).

The roll itself is also an odd size. It has both a large diameter but is also quite wide. This means I can only have it in my heated drier box even though it is designed for two spools.

Again, maybe I just got unlucky, but safe to say that (particularly given it is more expensive than virgin plastic) I won't be buying another roll.

Sorry to hear you had trouble Andrew. I see it was purchased in April 2022 and it came with a free roll of X3D Smooth. Any bad roll we would have been happy to replace or refund or provide advice etc. The recycled range has now been discontinued as the pocket proved to be more important than recycling. excellent results

Black recycled filament prints very nicely on our anycubic i3 megas. Smooth shiny finish, good bed bond, strong finished product. I would highly recommend this product and will be purchasing again.

Thanks Sam - recycled PLA comes in some great pastel colours too. And with cardboard reels that can be recycled what's not to like.
